My Education began at SUNY in health sciences and was finished at University of Western Ontario 1980 with a B. Sc in Home Economics which was actually biochemistry and ethnic studies that enabled me to completed a dietetic internship and become a Registered Dietitian. I love teaching interested people nutrition and healthy lifestyle so became a Certified Diabetes Education in 1987 and continue to re do this exam to maintain the certificate.

To add some challenge to university I completed the Reserve Officer training course at the Combat Arms School in Gagetown, New Brunswick August 1981 and remained in the Service Battalion until 1986 as Lt Holterman. It was an exciting way to earn money and learn some unusual ways to live in the woods. The team sports were soccer and skydiving, I prefer the skydiving, less running.

Occupation:

I work as a clinical dietitian and certified diabetes educator at a large teaching hospital (Henderson of Hamilton Health Sciences) close to my home in Hamilton, Ontario.

Current hobbies and interests:

Work provides me income to do my hobbies of being a hockey, lacrosse and music parent. Marc and I enjoy the children's activities and taking them on local trips and to Naples and south of Everglade City to see wildlife and my brother.

What percentage of your hair is visibly gray (is this a trick question?)

Well the trick question-the grey hair, actually having a teen made it white! Streaking is a must now.

What are the most rewarding things that you have done in your life?

The most rewarding experiences I have had over the past decade is the strong friendship and loyalty I have developed with two girlfriends I met at church twenty years ago. As we each had difficult times, such as family deaths and joyful times, births new homes, we have been there and helped each other so that all succeed.

What are your favorite non-family related things to do in your free time?

My free time loves are usually outdoor walks or drives in the country in the sunshine and the city at night I love the lights.

How would you best describe your idea of "being successful?"

To be successful is rewarding to me. This comes from attaining a level of higher than average achievement in an area and then sharing it with others. I get joy for enabling a person to do a task they perceived impossible, such as teaching the mentally challenged person how to use an insulin delivery device and coordinate their insulin to selected meal.

What are your most vivid memories of your days in Ridgewood?

My happy memories of Ridgewood are the freedom I felt while riding my bicycle everywhere seeing people and beautiful big trees. I remember the town as a safe place with many friends. Summer days at Graydon pool were good.

What achievement or activity are you most proud of in your life?

I am proud of my Christian ethics of being diligent, honest and kind to others and I hope to teach my children this so that they can be a contributor to society.

How have you changed since high school?

I may have changed in thirty years in the small areas, however I still love to laugh, a lot, ride my bike around the residential area, and go to gatherings. I like to make boring business meetings fun. My knees took some hard landings so much effort is put out to delay the steel replacements, so most of the time I wear a knee brace designed for football and lacrosse players, which I could not get in a pretty color, not a usual request.
