What percentage of your hair is visibly gray (is this a trick question?)
Almost all.
All from my kids of course.
If you had one year free of all responsibility and unlimited funds, what would you do?
Woa…..I would throw away my cell phone, Blackberry and laptop..….get my tent, sleeping bag, PBJ, bread and water…and get on my bicycle and ride and ride and ride.
What are the most rewarding things that you have done in your life?
Maintaining a loving family environment (most of the time!) and being a good dad (most of the time!) and being good husband (some of the time!). I am continually awed by fatherhood and my children.
What rewarding things do you plan to do in your life?
I plan on getting more and more involved with volunteering my time, energy and effort into good causes. I have been blessed to been dealt a great hand and I am playing it the best I can.
What are your favorite non-family related things to do in your free time?
I love being out hiking every weekend and, whenever I can, I love bicycling.
How would you best describe your idea of "being successful?"
Being able to spend lots of time enjoying my family.
What are your most vivid memories of your days in Ridgewood?
*Biking down Ridgewood Ave. from Ridge School every week with 5 (yup) guys on my golden Stingray and then turning into Hillside Ave. and crashing into the bushes….everyone laughing.
*Pool hopping…the last one out of the pool after the resident's realized we were in their pool was the winner….
*Chicken on the tracks….whoever was the last one off the railroad tracks as the freight trains screamed down upon us was the winner (I never won this game).
*Riding our bicycles into the various Ridgewood grocery stores…..down the aisle to the back of the store and then back out…..somehow I thought that this was very funny at the time…
*Caddying at the Ridgewood Country Club (see the movie “Caddy Shack” for details).
*Streaking past little white-haired ladies out walking their poodles while wearing our underwear over our heads….
What achievement or activity are you most proud of in your life?
Bicycling across the country 3 times by myself is probably my proudest non-family oriented “achievement.” …Not the streaking….
What single piece of wisdom would you like to leave for the next generation?
I really do not have a single piece of wisdom for the next generation. Hopefully I have set a good example for my 3 children.
How have you changed since high school?
Yikes. I am trying to change for the better each and every day. I am giving more, loving more, listening more and I hope, understanding more! I still have a long ways to go and many more lessons to learn.
What else should we know about you?!
That's enough!
